In a recent study published in the American Journal of Public Health, a team of researchers led by King’s College London found that the chance of an obese person to achieve a normal body weight without bariatric surgery is 1 in 124 for women and 1 in 210 for men. In the case of severe obesity, this rate increases to 1 in 677 for women and 1 in 1,290 for men.
